Where Save My Exams Is Better
Credit where it is due, and there is more of it than there used to be.
Breadth. If you are taking AQA Further Maths or IB Physics alongside 9709, one Save My Exams subscription covers all of it. ExamPilot covers one component of one syllabus.
Notes. Years of editorial work, organised by topic and difficulty, written and reviewed by subject specialists. ExamPilot has nothing equivalent and is not trying to build it.

Where ExamPilot Is Better
Two things, and we are not claiming more than two.
Retention is scheduled, not hoped for. Save My Exams has flashcards. It does not have spaced repetition. Nothing in it works out that your integration technique peaked three weeks ago and is decaying now. Smart Review does exactly that, using FSRS to time each return so you review just before you would have forgotten. Over a long revision run this is the difference between recognising a method and being able to produce it under time pressure.
Diagnosis is misconception-level, not topic-level. Their tracker tells you that you are weak on differentiation. ExamPilot tells you that you drop the chain rule when the inner function is trigonometric, and then drills that until it holds. Same wrong answer, very different instruction about what to do next.
Underneath both: depth. Around 450 questions on Pure 1 alone, each mapped to a reasoning pattern rather than just a topic heading. That is only possible because we are not also covering IB Biology.
Who Should Use What?
Match the tool to the problem you actually have.
- Use Save My Exams if you need notes, if you are taking several subjects or boards, or if you want the widest set of practice material in one subscription.
- Use ExamPilot if you are sitting Cambridge 9709 and your problem is that material does not stay learned, or that you keep making the same mistake without being able to name it.

For notes and breadth, yes. Well written, exam-board specific, and they save you hours of assembling your own. If you are covering several subjects the per-subject cost is low.
For adaptive practice, it depends on the tier. Adaptive Smart Lessons and the weakness tracker are Premium only, at £192 a year. Essential at £96 does not include them.
For retention, no. There is no spaced repetition at either tier. Save My Exams will help you understand a topic in March. It will not tell you in August that you are losing it.
The Honest Take
Save My Exams is a good product that has got better. The notes are strong, the organisation is clean, and the 4.6 rating is earned. They have also closed the gap on adaptivity and in-platform help, which are things comparison pages like this one used to claim they lacked.
ExamPilot is narrower on purpose. One syllabus component, done completely, built around retention and misconception-level diagnosis. If you want a library, they have one and we do not. If your problem is that you have read it and it will not stick, that is the problem we built for.
